The Next Fashion Trend?
Colorful stones popping out from beneath a Malaysian girl’s toenails have left doctors baffled. I wonder if they're worth anything? I mean, other than on eBay! This website had the best headline.

Here's an interesting and versital design for a sofa (if you can call it that) that's quite out of the ordinary. In fact all the items on this German furniture design website are, well, far out, man. But just looking at this one sofa makes me feel so comfortable, cozy and sleepy....zzzzz

The perfect table for any bar. But also works as a wonderful breakfast table should the kids get out of control!

Got a hundred-or-so friends that need something fun to do? Then why not scare the crap out of the unsuspecting as this mob on Japanese televison did. I'm sure the 'person-minding-their-own-business' will see the humor in it...once they change their pants.

The Spread of the Gods
Interesting video showing the birth, and spread, of major religions over time. It only shows the progression up to 2000 A.D., so it'll be interesting in 10-15 years to see how fast Scientology spreads from the west coast.

Unless you've been living in a cave (as I do) you've probably heard of the rare, prehistoric shark that was captured on film in Japan. CNN has a video of this beast that not even a mother could love, but I also found another video in Japanese (from CNNN, one extra N). Although the CNN video has superior underwater sounds giving you the sense of being there in the tank, the CNNN video plays a delightful music track that helps to make you forget that you're peering at one ass-ugly beast that was probably not meant to be seen my humankind! Ick!!!

Use the Force, Luke
A couple of brainiacs from Fermi Lab in Batavia, IL (not far from me) are in the process of creating their own Star Wars fan film. In order for them to shoot scenes of an army of stormtroopers, they 'enlisted' the 501st Legion to lend a hand. The 501st Legion is a group of more than 4,000 Star Wars enthusiasts based in Chicago, that own realistic costumes and perform in parades and at functions for free. Once the movie is complete, they hope that their film will be worthy of the most popular Star Wars fan sites, www.theforce.net. May the force be with them! Also, if you want to see an excellent example of a Star Wars fan film be sure to check out Duality, which was made back in 2000, but is still one of my favorites!

Throne of the Gods
Roto Rooter plumbers are running one of the funniest contests ever; The Pimped Out John Sweepstakes. The winner gets a toilet with seat warmer, 20-inch LCD television, gaming system, DVD player, laptop computer, MP3 player, refrigerator, and digital video recorder. This prize is installed by Roto Rooter and is valued at $5,000! But there's two catches to the prize; You need a bathroom to accommodate all the 'gear', and it's the winner's responsible for all other assembly and utility connections including electrical, cable TV or satellite TV, etc. So unless you had the unlikely foresight to have your bathroom wired for cable and a fridge, expect to fork over a few bucks. My own bathrooms are much too small for this prize, but would it be so wrong to install it in my bedroom?

PETA's Gonna Crap!
Even though I myself don't care for cats, I couldn't see doing this to my pet (although it did make me laugh...very loudly). Can this be for real, and where?

I thought this was a joke, but it is a real machine; The PetSpa. I also found this article about it. Still seems cruel to me.

Goin to the Superbowl wit Da Bears
I've lived in the 'Chicagoland' area for most of my life, and let me tell you Chicago is a BIG sports city, and when a local team wins, things go crazy throughout the city and its suburbs. Last Sunday the Chicago Bears won their division title and are going to the Superbowl game on Feb. 4th. This is the second time this team has gone to the Superbowl, and when it happened last time in 1986, this town went nuts. And 2007 is no different.
For example, many of the skyscrapers on the Chicago skyline turn on their lights and pull the shades to support the team.

Today I went to the Chicago Suntime's website and found this on their logo banner for the local weather, which is a play on the Bear's Brian Urlacher.

Then there's the story of this guy who month's ago video taped a public access TV interview with the Bear's safety Chris Harris, where Harris promised that if the Bears made it to the Superbowl Harris would give him a ticket. So now this guy wants his ticket and has been standing outside of Bear's headquaters with a sign reading "Chris Harris, you promised." Good luck with that dude, but be sure to wear your mittens, it's Brrr-Lacher outside!
